Audra is an artist who stands out in terms of the range and variety of her talent as a performer and song writer. Record-breaking six times recipient from her Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards as well as one Emmy Award she received in the year 2015 by Barack Obama. Blessed with a luminous soprano with an extraordinary talent to tell the truth She is equally comfortable in Broadway as well as on the on stage as she is in role in television and film. She is a renowned performer as a recording artist and concert performer, appearing regularly at some of the most prestigious performances around the world. McDonald was born into a musical family in Fresno, CA. She received classical vocal instruction from The Juilliard School of New York. Following her graduation, she was awarded her first Tony Award for Best Performance of a Featured Actress the Musical Carousel at the Lincoln Center Theater (1994). The following four years, she also won another two Tony Awards under the featured actress category. They were awarded for her Broadway performance in Terrence McGally's play Master Class and Ragtime. In 2004, she was nominated to win her 4th Tony Award, starring in A Raisin in the Sun alongside Sean Diddy Combs. And in 2012, her fifth Tony as well as her first win award in the category Leading Actress was won for her performance as the title character in The Gershwins Porgy and Bess. In the year she received her 6th Tony award in 2014, Billie Holiday's portrayal of the role Lady Day in Emerson's Bar & Grill was Broadway's most decorated show. In 2017, she also performed in the West End London West End debut, and was also nominated for an Olivier Award. As well as recording the record for the highest number of performances that an actor has won in a competition she also became the first person to receive honors across all four categories. The credits she has in the theater include The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (993) Henry IV (2004) and 110 in the Shade (707). Twelfth, Night was McDonald's Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut. Shuffle Along is the Making of the Musical Seduction of 1921-and All That Followed. Frankie Johnny in the Clair de Lune. and Ohio State Murders. McDonald made her TV debut in the award-winning Peabody Award winning CBS drama Having Our Say - The Delany Sisters's First 100 Years. Her next role was as a recurring actor on NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit, in which she appeared with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber. McDonald won her debut Emmy for her performance as a character in her role in the HBO version of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Wit directed by Mike Nichols, starring Emma Thompson. In 2003 she was back on television but this time on Mister Sterling produced by Emmy Award-winning Lawrence O'Donnell Jr., with Josh Brolin. The Bedford Diaries on the WB at the beginning of 2006, and Kidnapped, NBC. In 2016, McDonald was nominated for the fourth Emmy award for her appearance on HBO's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar Restaurant & Grill, a movie-special. The Bite was a six episodes pandemic-themed drama created by Spectrum Originals in collaboration with CBS Studios. Having first appeared in the role of U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in 2009 on CBS's legal drama The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald took on the character (now called Liz Reddick) as a season regular on The Good Fight on Paramount+ getting 3 Critics Choice Award nominations for her performance. The actress is currently guest on Julian Fellowes' period film The Gilded Age.
