Awkwafina

American musician and actor Awkwafina began her career with hilarious hip-hop tracks that addressed racial identity and sexuality with an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first musical experience. She played the trumpet. She also received the classical and jazz education later becoming a hip-hop teenager. At college, she was studying writing and women's studies. Then, she even had an hour studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. It wasn't until she graduated that her focus shift to music. In 2012 her track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success across the Internet before settling on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also featured hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC Bitche$1. The second track linked into Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide published in 2015, which was an additional initiative. A musician and author was in her portfolio, she decided to determined to pursue acting in a third project. Alongside early shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors as well as Storks. In 2018, she scored major roles in a variety of high-profile movies like Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released by in Fina We Trust in June of the year.
